THERE IS NO SHOW LIKE MOTOR SHOW
Fireworks marked the end of the 35th Bologna Motor Show. The
Findomestic Memorial Bettega was won by Citroen driver Sebastien Ogier, who beat fellow
Citroen driver Petter Solberg in the final.
The final day on which the Motor Show was open to the public – which
benefitted from the presence of driver Thomas Biagi, the Udinese football team
and the Medusa Trio – also provided the opportunity to evaluate the success
of the Motor Show, which has given the organizers tremendous satisfaction.
Giada Michetti, CEO of GL events
Italia,
declared:
“Visitor numbers at the 2010 Motor
Show exceeded
our expectations and this occurred for two reasons. The first is that the
market situation remains very challenging and the second is that, since the
2009 Motor Show – for reasons that everyone is aware of – was limited to
the sporting and entertainment events and lacked the presence of the car
makers, 2010 was almost like a start-up event. Based on the initial data we
have compiled, without yet having access to the full stats for today, this year
we have welcomed more than 800,000 visitors to the Motor Show.
Over and above the number of
visitors, I would like to point out that the other statistics are also
extremely satisfying for us: a total of 340 exhibitors appeared at the Motor
Show, which covered a total of 11 pavilions, not to mention the 8 external areas – including the Mobil
1 Arena
– where the car makers staged their test-drives, or the 50 racing and
exhibition events staged there. In the test-drive area of Electric City
‘powered by Enel’, members of the public carried out more than
5,000 test-drives of electric vehicles, without taking into account
today's figures. Last but not least, a total of 14,086 trade professionals visited the Motor Show,
along with 2,200 representatives of the media.
The online pre-sale ticket
service proved to be a great success, recording an increase of around 20% on
the previous year.
In terms of our PR operations, the Motor Show
application for the iPhone and the iPad has been downloaded by 10,620 users, whereas the data on
the number of hits received by the www.motorshow.it
site is not yet available.
The web 2.0 initiatives are worthy
of a separate mention: we invested heavily in this promotional aspect, setting
up the Motor Show blog and the Motor Show's own Facebook page, Twitter
account, Flickr set and Youtube channel. The Motor Show blog received a total of 30,189
hits
from 10,281 visitors; during the Motor Show, the official page on Facebook – which has around 6,500
fans – clocked
up 22,500 photo views, 330 comments and 1,560 new fans, and saw 20 new
galleries being uploaded, accounting for a total of 1,100 photos. The dedicated Youtube channel is today the 50th
most viewed channel in its category and the 92nd most popular
overall for the week. A total of 89 videos were uploaded, generating a total
of 55,247 views.
The stage is, then, set for 2011, when the 36th Bologna
Motor Show will be held at BolognaFiere from 3 to 11 December 2011 (1 December for members
of the press only / 2 December for members of the press and trade professionals
only)”.
